Revitalize a Community Garden

Wilcrest Store, Houston, Texas

  • Host your Kids Day of Service at a community garden
  • Partner with local schools to increase the impact of your event
  • Include community organizations in your Kids Day of Service

Wilcrest celebrated Kids Day of Service at a neighborhood garden ravaged by summer flooding and in need of helping hands. This community garden is especially deserving of love and attention as it provides neighborhood families nearly 350 pounds of produce each month.

WFM volunteers, together with Urban Harvest and students from a local school, had a productive day in the garden thanks to Marketing Team Leader Gina Miller! You can find local WKF partner schools that may be willing to spend time volunteering here. Regular garden volunteers from the community are often elderly, so young hands can be very helpful. Volunteers spent the day edging garden beds, weeding, and tilling soil for the fall planting.

What great community spirit Wilcrest!
