Party in the Garden
Marketing Team Leader Leslie Graves organized a team of 40 volunteers who spent their Saturday weeding and planting in 15 raised garden beds, moving a huge pile of dirt, and tending the butterfly garden at Spring Creek Elementary. To find a WKF Garden Grant recipient near your store, search here.
Students from the school lent a helping hand as well! They all especially loved the many snails found in the garden throughout the day. No one stayed completely clean, but Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day’s gloves and aprons definitely helped. Stickers, pencils, and fun handouts from both WKF, Cascadian Farm, and Organic Valley were available for kids to take home.
Working up an Appetite
All that hard work had volunteers ready for lunch! WKF’s supplier partners helped the Santa Rosa store feed its hungry gardeners a delicious meal of Applegate hotdogs in Rudi’s Organic Bakery rolls and Organic Valley sent cheese sticks to munch on. Everything was washed down with delicious Suja juice. Volunteers were also asked to bring a simple, healthy dish to pass.
This party was full of dirt, snails, and smiles – sounds like a great time to us!BACK TO ALL TEAM MEMBER RESOURCES
